An end-to-end IoT pool automation stack built for SplashMe — custom hardware, native mobile apps, a web app, and an MQTT real-time layer — taken from concept to two product generations and 3,000+ live Australian pools.
SplashMe (the Adelaide-based pool automation brand) had a clear vision: an Australian-designed smart automation system that any pool owner could control from their phone, and that pool professionals could install and configure without fighting fragmented tools.
What stood in the way was the build. Existing smart-pool products on the market were either expensive imports built for other climates and pool types, or generic home-automation hubs that didn’t understand pool chemistry, dosing, or equipment cycles. To deliver what they wanted, SplashMe needed a partner that could build the entire stack — the hardware controller, the modules, the native mobile apps, the web app, the real-time messaging layer, and the cloud — and keep iterating on it as the product matured.
What we built
Together with SplashMe we built and shipped the full IoT platform, then took it through a second-generation rebuild as the user base scaled:
A smart automation controller installed in line with pool water flow, plus modular hardware extensions (sensor + dosing module, power expander, poolside switch).
A native iOS app and a native Android app for pool owners to monitor and control their pool from anywhere.
An MQTT-based real-time messaging layer between the controller and the apps, so changes (turning on a pump, adjusting temperature) take effect in seconds rather than minutes.
A cloud backend with over-the-air updates, so every controller in the field gets new features and fixes without a technician visit.
From the pool owner’s side, the platform turns five separate manual jobs into one app:
Automated water-chemistry monitoring and dosing.
Temperature management for pool and spa.
Schedules for pumps, lighting, and water features.
Energy optimisation — equipment runs only when it needs to.
Remote control and alerts from anywhere with an internet connection.
Cloud backend with OTA firmware + software updates
The platform
Beyond the hardware, SplashMe needed a polished software front door — a public site that sells the product and a web app that pool professionals and power users live in day to day.
The product site — positioning SplashMe as smart pool & spa control for owners and pros. The web app — where pool professionals and power users manage pools at scale.
The outcome
3,000+Australian pools running SplashMe
Gen 1 → Gen 2Product generations shipped
LiveIn market across Australia
SplashMe ships today as a complete Australian-designed pool automation platform — sold to homeowners and installed by pool professionals across the country — with an ecosystem of supporting modules still in active development.
